Horse Whisperer

I had a pretty cool assignment today. I got to photograph a local guy, Steve Hayden, who is a horse trainer participating in Extreme Mustang Makeover. Here's how it works: wild Mustangs are corralled out west and given to horse trainers around the country for 90 days. At end of that period, trainers show off their newly trained Mustangs to compete for money. "The trained Mustangs will be judged on conditioning, groundwork and a 'Horse Course' which represents maneuvers and obstacles found in trail and recreational riding situations," according to their website.

Miñano-Osborn wedding

I had a blast shooting this wedding on Sunday. These frames are my favorite, but I'll put up several more on my weddings website in a few weeks.

Griffin City Championship

I shot the Griffin City Championship this morning (part of it anyway), and I think this is my best frame. Hitting out of the sand trap always makes for good photographs. This is Josh Woods, a past winner of this tournament, on the fourth hole. Man, these guys make it look easy.

Raindrops

I've been meaning to post an image or two, but I just haven't shot anything lately that I've been crazy about. I shot this Tuesday afternoon after we finally got some rain around here. I still think this image could've been better, but considering the positive feedback I got after it ran in the paper, I figured I would share it. Oh yeah, that's the top of the Spalding County courthouse reflected in the raindrops. Let me know what you think.

Blaine

I took this of my friend Blaine today while showing him how to work the rear-curtain sync with his D100. All that means is that the flash fires at the end of an exposure. So if you use a long exposure, like 1/30th second or longer and move the camera while the picture is being exposed, the flash freezes the subject at the last possible millisecond. That probably didn't make sense to anyone, but at least I tried. Anyways, Blaine didn't care for this shot, but I really liked it. So here you go.

Jared and Vanetta

Today, I had the pleasure of photographing a good friend of mine and her husband at their home in Pike County. I've never taken maternity portraits before, but I'm pleased with the results. I can't wait to meet little Noah when he gets here in a few months.

Sunset over Griffin

I was on top of the a parking deck in downtown Griffin tonight shooting down on a street party when I saw this. Man I like pretty colors.

A day at the office

Brian and I went to the golf course today — and I found out how bad I suck at this stupid game. He took a couple shots of me, but they also suck. Anyways, here's a couple frames of Brian and one of the Big Green Monster that took many balls from me.

Crazy clouds

These clouds looked like they were going to dump some much needed rain on Griffin, but they only yielded a few drops. Maybe next time.

McNeill-Straub wedding

Here's my favorite shot from a weddng I shot yesterday in Watkinsville. Karen McNeill, whose mother is BFF with my mother, married Jeff Straub. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. Here's a frame of Karen getting into her father's Chevy Bel-Air after getting hitched. Within the next few weeks, I'll have a gallery from their wedding on my weddings site.
